Which is a shame - it's a great book and the show bears little resemblance to it! A Jackson Brigadoon would be fascinating. I'm very fond of the score, but the Gene Kelly film did it no favours. A movie version of the Cy Coleman City of Angels would be fascinating, but I'm not sure who would be a good choice of director. One which Kevin Lima seems to have pegged perfectly. I actually would like to see Gilliam do a non-musical version of "Wicked" based on the original book. That's much darker material that would suit his style better. Something tells me his version of the musical would leave teenage girls crying in the lobby of movie theaters, and as a former employee of said movie theaters I cannot let that happen in my fictive assignment of musicals.
