The Unsung Hero of Enchanted

December 7, 2007 · Leave a Comment

OK, I saw Enchanted last night and have little to say that hasn’t been said by Ken Levine on his much more popular (and probably better-written) blog. However, I have noticed that there is one unsung hero of this wildly popular film: James Marsden as Prince Edwards. Marsden hit every comedic note brilliantly. He had this Michael Scott-esque lack of a self-awareness that drove his character skillfully through the plot, gaining both laughs and sympathy all of the way.

In one perfect moment, he invokes Lenny and Squiggy (no, I’m not too young to have watched every episode of Laverne and Shirley five times over… haven’t you old people ever heard of Nick@Nite?):

I’m sorry for the obnoxious YouTube-ification of this clip, in which some punk kid with iMovie tries to make this already-funny clip funnier and fails, but this was the only clip I could find.
